Has anybody seen April?

It's funny how the older you get, the faster time flies.......yes, Grandma and Grandpa I'm starting to understand that! =) It seems that it was just yesterday that I was in my mentor's office pulling everything out! Desk, folders, filing cabinets, shelves....the whole nine yards. I was polite and replaced all of these things with bubble wrap throughout his office. It was quiet possibly my best April Fool's Day prank to date. After getting that responsibility taken care of, the rest of the month flew by. Spring is officially here!!! No more snow!!! This means that Bair Lake Bible Camp starts getting busy, which is exciting! We had quite a few ACE groups and at least one group every weekend. I love my work! I have been given the opportunity over the past few weeks to go to schools with Adam, our guest services director/ninja, and share the Word of God. There's not an adjective that I can find to describe doing this, so I'll settle for awesomely amazing. Some are better than others, but there is nothing I love more than sharing the Word of God with people. It has been awesome and I have a few more upcoming this week. Back at Bair Lake, I have found myself loving the work in the maintenance department. Landscaping is one of my new favorite things to do. Whether it be riding on the lawn mower, pushing one, "string trimming"...known by most scholars as weed whacking, and any other imaginable work that can be done outside...I'm a fan. I have been also getting more involved with 5 star, which is the after school program that I volunteer with. I love having the opportunity to hang out and have fun with the middle schoolers, while at the same time passing on some of the knowledge of life that I have been given. Each week we focus on a new subject, such as integrity, responsibility, respect...etc. It is an awesome program and I very much look forward to staying involved. So, what am I up to these days?, one who is interested might ask. Let me lay it out. Monday- from 12-7 I travel to Indiana to serve with 5 star. Tuesday- I work from 9-3, and then have an inductive Bible study course from 3-5:30. Wednesday- 6:30 Anti-Meridian -8 prayer, 9-11:30 staff meeting, 12:30-5:30 5 star in Michigan, 7-9 worship(playing music, praising God....and other awesome things). Thursday- 9-5 work, 7-9 Bible study. Friday 6:30-8 prayer, 9-5 work. Saturday- whatever the need of camp is, sometimes a half day and sometimes an extremely full day. Sunday- usually a half day of work, 1-2 giving guitar lessons. Thats my week in a nutshell...or 7 sentences, which ever you prefer. Life has been busy, but I am very much enjoying it. I am personally doing fantastic! God is too good and then some! I still go through struggles but they are much easier to go through havin the Big Guy on my side. This month our focus is on humility. This is something I have been working on, and I find myself gaining ground, but I do need to get rid of the joking around arrogance. I'm excited to continue to learn! Until the next time may God bless you, and look to Him with an earnest heart and He will guide you! If you read this, call me!!...let's chat! =) 913-428-6133

The Month of March

Hello everybody!

Good morning, afternoon, or evening...or whatever time you are reading this!!! I just wanted to spend a little bit of time and bring you guys up to date with what's goin on in my life! March is already gone...crazy! It went so quickly, but so much was learned and lived. During the month of March we studied Evangelism as a group. I learned so much about myself and what I am called to do by the Lord. I love the words in John 1...when John is asked what he would say about himself, he replies in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the desert. Make straight the way for the Lord!" This is what I would like to be able to say of myself 10 years from now, giving God all the glory the whole way through. During the month of March I also read "Revolution in World Missions" by Dr. K.P. Yohanaan. This book has flat out got me pumped for doing God's will wherever He calls me to do it! The book examines American culture and shows how much we take for granted every day, and how big of a need there is all over the world. Slightly convicting, but that's always a good thing! So now that we have learning out of the way....How am I doing out here in Michigan? I am awesome! I cannot remember a time when I have been this happy and excited for my future. Life is an amazing adventure and I am straight loving the ride. I definitely miss my family, but I am looking forward to seeing them again soon! My music has been gradually maturing and I am enjoying continuing to write and record. I am hoping to have a few projects completed and ready to post by next month. Speaking of next month, it is going to be a busy one. A lot of traveling and a lot of opportunities for growth. Please continue to pray for me, as I will you. Until the next time may God bless you in new and exciting ways, follow His lead and live the abundant life!

What is up with negative attitudes?

So, I have noticed how easy it is to be negative...Why is that? Not only would I say that it is easy to get into a negative attitude, but I would go further and say that for most people getting into a negative state of mind is much easier than having a positive one. In my personal view, I believe that at the root of negativity lies ignorance. Here's a quick an easy example...I'm so busy and my life is so stressful, I barely have time for my family. I would say that there is a large portion of men and women who have said this numerous times in their lives, many of whom are still saying it. Here's where crossing the bridge into true thankfulness and positive thoughts has been working for me. I'm sue that you are thinking well it could be worse. The guy could be blind or deaf of in a third world country starving or homeless or have a sexual deficiency that inhibits him from ever having children or could be missing legs or arms or...you catch the drift. No matter what circumstance we face, we can always compare our situation with that of someone else's and see clearly that we have a lot of blessings in our lives. Here's my theory, throw away that way of thinking...pull it out of the trash and burn it. Sure that form of empathy does find ourselves thinking positively, but I can guarantee that we have all tried this route and it fails, often way too quickly. I can also guarantee that in the last week you have had a negative attitude about something that has happened or that you have observed. There is no permanent fix to get rid of negative attitudes. But here's how I've been working on it. Instead of comparing my situation with that of someone else's, I just worry about myself. Right now I am alive, I am typing on a computer, I have eyes that see what I am typing, I can smell microwaved lasagna down the hall of the office. I can breathe with ease. Now you may think, that's great for you but what about people you don't have all those same things. The point is being thankful for what you have, in troubling times and in times of great joy. This life is a gift from God...a gift, you know those things that you have opened your entire life. Have you ever opened a gift and thought, "Man, this is tough, I wish it were easier."? Not only is this life a gift from God, but eternal life is also the free gift of God if we proclaim Christ as our savior. The Bible also says that in times of great struggle, great hope will be produced. It also says that we should rejoice in these times of struggle. I guess I could have saved you reading this whole blog by just saying, Love your life, God has a purpose for you in all things. Smile and enjoy the ride of life even when things get tough. God has, does, and will always love YOU!

Here for a purpose

Hello everybody! I am writing a blog, something that I thought I would never do. I am writing a blog as a part of the Outfitters program that I am in at Bair Lake Bible Camp. I will be giving updates regularly. Updates on my personal life, events that are taking place and just fun stuff every now and then. I would like to have YOU send me questions. Questions that could be directed to me or just questions about random things as well. I am new to this so I apologize if I seem technologically incoherent. Today I am getting ready to host a group that is coming in for the weekend. Don't you love those mornings when you wake up ready to tackle everything that you have to accomplish? I am learning more and more it is possible to have mornings like that every morning. Well, off to work. May God bless you, if you are reading this I am praying for you where you are at physically and spiritually.
